I’m a well-rounded tech generalist with an interesting career trajectory the last 20 years: I started out in intel in the US Army, transitioned to archaeology (of all things), then over to project management and tech sales in semiconductor test services, followed by cloud and Linux systems engineering, and then (and then!) back to tech sales. Throw some intermittent freelancing in there and here I am.
I’ve been hooked on tech since I received a TRS-80 Model 4P for Xmas 1987 and have attempted to incorporate it in nearly everything I’ve done since – I mean, when you have a hammer, everything looks like a nail, right?
My personal interests tend to align with my professional interests and vice versa. I’ve worked on some highly interesting and impactful projects over the years, interesting both from technical and regulatory perspectives. I consider myself a builder of things and am equally comfortable in a garage, metal or woodworking shop, or data center. If a task can be automated, I will – if it can’t, I’ll find it even more interesting.
Some of my more recent personal research interests include: using CNNs to analyze archaeological imagery; coding web scraping utilities to scrape non-uniform and inconsistent page data; attempting (somewhat successfully) to automate genealogical data collection; coding a label tool in Python for creating my own annotated and bounded imagery datasets; and figuring out why I can still never seem to find matching socks when I buy a dozen identical pairs.
